Finding the right manual

How do I find the serial number prefix on my Caterpillar machine?

Look at the product identification (serial number) plate on the machine. On older Caterpillar machines the serial number has 8 characters, and the prefix is the first three — for example, in JPD00123 the prefix is JPD. Newer machines carry a 17-character PIN; the three-character prefix is the group of letters/numbers that comes right before the last five digits. Search our store for that three-character prefix to find the matching service manual. If you are unsure, send us the full number and we will identify it for you.

Which John Deere manual do I need?

John Deere technical manuals are identified by a TM number (for example, TM1421). Search our store by your model (e.g., 544B, 310SG, 4440) or by TM number. Each listing shows the models it fits and, where it applies, the serial number range. Some machines have separate manuals for different serial ranges or for "Operation and Test" versus "Repair", so check the serial number on your machine plate against the listing.

How do I know the manual fits my machine?

Every listing states the manufacturer, the models covered and, where applicable, the serial number prefix or range. Compare that with the plate on your machine. If anything is unclear, ask us before ordering — we reply within one business day and will tell you exactly which manual to buy. Ordering the wrong manual is not a defect, so please confirm the fit first.

What is the difference between a service manual, a technical manual and an operator's manual?

A service/repair or technical manual is written for the technician: specifications, torque values, diagnostics, testing and adjusting, disassembly and assembly, and wiring and hydraulic schematics. An operator's manual covers daily operation, controls, safety and routine maintenance. If you plan to repair the machine, you need the service or technical manual.

Are these original manufacturer manuals?

No. Our manuals are reproductions based on the factory documentation, cleaned up and re-formatted for easy reading in the shop. AmazoniaTech is an independent seller and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any equipment manufacturer.

I can't find my manual. Can you get it?

Often, yes. New titles are added continuously. Send us the make, model and serial number and we will check availability.

PDF edition

When will I receive my PDF?

A private download link is emailed to the address on your order within 48 hours of payment, usually much sooner. Check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it.

How long does the download link work?

The link is active for 14 days and allows up to 5 downloads. Save the file to your computer as soon as you download it.

Can I print the PDF or use it on a tablet?

Yes. The PDF is printable and opens on any computer, tablet or phone with a standard PDF reader. It is licensed for your own use and may not be shared or resold.

Can I order the PDF from outside the United States?

Yes. The PDF edition is available worldwide. Printed editions currently ship within the United States only.

What does the printed manual look like?

Full-size 8.5 × 11 in. pages, printed double-sided, loose-leaf and pre-punched for a standard 3-ring binder, with continuous page numbering.

How fast do printed manuals ship?

Printed orders ship within 1 business day. Shipping is free within the USA by USPS Media Mail (typically 2–8 business days in transit), and you receive a tracking number by email. Faster USPS Priority Mail (1–3 business days in transit) is available at checkout.

Can I get both the printed manual and the PDF?

Yes — choose Printed + PDF. You get the book for the shop and the file for the office, with the PDF at a reduced price.

Payments, returns and support

Is checkout secure? What payment methods do you accept?

Checkout is SSL-encrypted and PCI-DSS compliant, powered by Shopify. We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. We never see or store your full card number.

Do you charge sales tax?

Sales tax is calculated at checkout where required by law, based on your shipping or billing address.

What is your return policy?

Printed editions can be returned within 30 days of delivery in new, unused condition (return shipping paid by the customer and a 20% restocking fee for change-of-mind returns). If a printed manual arrives damaged or is the wrong item, we replace it or refund it at no cost. PDF editions are final sale once the link is sent, but we always replace a corrupted file or a wrong manual. See the full Return & Refund Policy.

How do I check my order status?

Your shipping confirmation email includes the USPS tracking number. For anything else, contact us with your order number.
